We, the directors of OmerCare, are sisters: Karry Omer and Susie Stefanou. Susie has a strong administrative and organisational background, gained in both the public and private sectors. Karry has worked as a nurse, a social worker and a university lecturer. Karry is the Registered Care Manager and together we make a great team!
We grew up in the village of Codicote, Hertfordshire and have a large extended family who also live in Codicote. Karry has brought up her 3 children here, and our parents and other family members also live in the village.
It was whilst we were looking for care for our own relatives that we saw that there was no company that really understood the needs of the elderly living in rural areas. We thought we could fill this gap – and OmerCare was born!
We do not like the traditional ‘task based’ approach to home care, and believe that what most people want is a flexible service that puts them at the centre of their care. If one of our care givers arrives on a sunny morning to see a client who fancies a drive out to a garden centre for lunch, even though they had booked the carer to do the laundry, then the garden centre takes precedence!
